Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Loudmeter is built around one simple idea: your audio is yours. Every Loudmeter product measures sound on your own device and is designed so that your audio files never need to be uploaded to us or to anyone else.
This policy covers the three ways you can use Loudmeter:
- Loudmeter Online — the free in-browser analyzer
- Loudmeter for Menu Bar (Live) — the real-time macOS menu-bar app
- Loudmeter File — the file analyzer for Mac and iOS
- We do not upload, store, or have access to your audio.
- We do not require an account to use Loudmeter.
- We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
- All measurement (LUFS, True Peak, LRA, correlation) happens locally.
Loudmeter Online (in your browser)
When you drop a file into Loudmeter Online, it is decoded and analyzed entirely inside your browser using the Web Audio API. The audio is never sent to a server — it stays in your browser's memory for the duration of the analysis and is discarded when you close or reload the page.
- Audio files: never uploaded, never stored.
- Results: shown only on your screen; not transmitted to us.
- Hosting: like most websites, our host may keep standard anonymous server logs (IP, browser type, time) for security and reliability. These never contain your audio.
Loudmeter for Menu Bar (Live)
Loudmeter Live reads audio that is already playing or being captured on your Mac and displays its loudness in real time. All processing happens on your Mac.
- Audio: analyzed locally and in real time; nothing is recorded or transmitted.
- Microphone / audio-capture permission: required by macOS so the app can read the loudness of audio your Mac is playing. It is used only to measure levels — no audio is ever recorded or stored.
- Settings & preferences: stored locally on your device.
- No account, no tracking. The app does not phone home with your audio.
Loudmeter File
Loudmeter File analyzes a file you choose and compares it against platform loudness targets. The file is read and measured on your device.
- Audio files: processed on-device; not uploaded or stored by us.
- Results: stay on your device unless you choose to share them.
- No account, no tracking.
Second screen over Wi-Fi
Loudmeter can mirror a Mac's live readings on an iPhone or iPad on the same Wi-Fi network — a handy second screen while you mix or master. This uses your local network only (Bonjour plus a direct connection between your own devices); it does not go over the internet.
- What's sent: only the numeric meter values shown on screen — never audio, files, or personal data.
- Where it goes: directly between your own devices on your Wi-Fi; nothing reaches us or any third party.
- Local Network permission: this is why macOS or iOS may ask for local network access. It is used only for this feature.
Information the app stores
- Your in-app settings and preferences (stored locally on your device).
- Nothing else — we keep no profile, no history, and no copy of your audio.
Information from the App Store
If you download Loudmeter Live or Loudmeter File from Apple, Apple may collect standard information about the download and any purchases under Apple's Privacy Policy. We receive only aggregate, anonymous sales and crash statistics from Apple — never your audio or personal identity.
Crash and diagnostic data
If you opt in to share diagnostics with Apple, anonymized crash reports may be sent to help us fix bugs. These reports never include your audio.
Children
Loudmeter is a professional audio tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the products evolve. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
